Does putting a small tape on your monitor cause problems?

As the title said, i'm no expert in this things, but can a small piece of tape on a monitor cause problems?

Sometimes the residue is hard to remove and cleaners can damage the plastic or rubbing can leave a mark.

I'd avoid the tape on the display area. I have taped things to the frame since that's just cosmetic.

Electronic tape, on the bottom part of my laptop monitor..

If it's not on the glass or screen.

Then what's the worry? We'll use black tape over product logos during a shoot. In our case we like to use painter's tape.
