Resolved Question

Does my tv need Sound Connect to use M3 speakers?

Dec 25, 2014 7:09PM PST

I'm thinking of buying a M3 speaker for my tv and would like to use it as a mini sound bar but I don't want any wires. Is this possible without the use of SoundConnect as I don't think my TV has this capability.

Bluetooth bridge

Thanks for the helpful reply. Only thing is now I need to find some kind of bridge. Any ideas? I've had a look and apparently if I plug them into the 3.5mm Jack I'll get no sound through my sound bar which isn't what I want. Surely there must be a optical output Bluetooth device I can use.

If it's any help the make of my TV is UE40D6500

Why wouldn't we get sound from the sound bar?

OK, I plug my cable into the 3.5mm jack and to the sound bar. Sound?

If I want to split that off to another sound system, then a 3.5mm splitter then off to the BlueTooth (BT) audio transmitter and I'm off to the races again.

Mind you that you could be annoyed at the baseball stadium echo effect due to lag induced but nothing tells me that's not the goal.

The sit rep

Here's the situation so far, I got the samsung soundbar plugged into the tv via the optical output cable. Apparently If I plug anything into the 3.5mm Jack the sound will no longer work from the soundbar.

I'm guessing I need some kind of bridge or Bluetooth device to join my tv, soundbar and m3 speaker together.

I'm starting to think a new TV would be the answer but trying to avoid paying £800 for a new one.

Sounds like a re-think is needed.

A lot of sets disable sound when a headphone is plugged it. This can really cheese off folk. So for optical it gets complicated fast.

I'd redo with the 3.5mm to a splitter then to the speaker and any of the usual bluetooth audio transmitters.
