Does Java need to be installed on a computer??

by Us- / March 22, 2010 2:48 PM PDT

Why do we need to have Java installed in our PC's?? I have 2 computers that do not have it installed at all, and have never had any issue viewing the websites I frequent, including this one.

Yet, our laptop came with it preinstalled, when I asked at the store, they said you have to have Java or you wont be able to see most of the sites on the internet since they told us java script is used all over.

Can someone shed some light on this

Thanks
Happy

Java is not Javascript.

Hope the short answer will do here. While some sites do require Java, Javascript is built into most browsers so you don't have to install Java to get Javascript.

Thank you,

I was sure it was not needed. However, as I stated I was told at the store, that you need to have it. I was thinking in my head; hmm have 2 PC's without Java installed and never had an issue and knew our browsers rendered all the pages just fine.

Once again, thanks.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
