please be informed that AVG Free does not include a Firewall component (it is available in paid products only).
For Your Information: currently latest version is AVG Free 9.0.819.
You can use one Anti-Virus solution with Firewall together - more protection applications (Anti-Virus) running real-time could cause conflicts in operating system.
Using XP-SP3. Dell Demension E520, Intel 925 Duo Core 3GHz processor,I believe with 4MB Cache per Intel's current listing of the microprocessor. Note: I was by Dell at time of purchase processor had hyper-threading. Do know if hyper-threading is in fact true nor how to find out. Computer purchased/made Aug 28,2007. Computer has 2GB hard drive 1x2. Currently using Shaw's F-Sure Software, which is basically useless (false positives of removal of viruses). Use Malwarebytes'(free-edition)to find, clean & remove viruses. Also have to use Super Anti-Spyware (free-edition) for adware & tracking cookies (again Shaw's F-Secure produces false positive clean reports-lol over 85 scans). Shaw's F-Secure firewall has worked with one except,in Feb 2009 it (Shaw's F-Secure said it blocked&removed virus called 2008/2009 again false positive. Malwarebytes'removed virus, Super-Anti-Spyware removed adware etc. Note: Shaw certified Technician confirmed that Malwayrebytes' did it fact remove the virus before any files, registry etc files were infected. Note: I did not panic, re-boot, turn off computer or do any system restore. Overall Shaw's Firewall does work-I have it set to auto-run. I used Norton previously on previous computer-computer was infected so bad (infections in CPU etc)it cost more to fix than to purchase new box. Nortons customer service absolutely terrible!!!! ie.)I would telephone cost was $3.00 per minute and they would tell me to get on-line and search their website-ROFL! I called because I could not get on the web.
Back to question: Does AVG free edition does not include Firewall if not can I turn off all but *(ISP Provider in Canada)*Shaw's F-Secure Firewall? Shaw's F-Secure is Very user friendly it pop's up and says this Web-site is infected Do not enter. Nortons was gibberish too techical for home user. Also if I do this will computer slow to a crawl.
I use Paint Shop Pro (memory hog) program only of this desktop.
I want something running constantly to advise me of that a web site is infected. Note: I also use a wireless router (D-link) Model DIR 628 Enhanced.
Currently using Firefox version 3.0.19 because it says version 3.5 or 3.6 will not work will Yuku although the update Firefox version works fine on another computer (to use a forum I belong to).
