Do you know about Health Insurance

May 4, 2010 3:44PM PDT

Hello!

I belong to middle class family with limited income. My parents are aged 60 & 65. Dad is in sound health with almost no problems in health. Mom is also in good shape except she underwent catract and is popping up a pill daily for Blood pressure.

We were not in good financial condition during my upbringing years and hence my dad niether had any knowledge or importance about taking adequate insurance cover and illness cover nor the financial capability to pay even small premium those days.

Things have changed for better, we now enjoy middle class status with no liablities or debts. I am particularly concerned about how to secure their future in terms any major illness cover. A single operation for them at any stage to either of them will wipe of all the savings we have and I have to start from scratch all over again.

I know it is pretty late, I have tried to contact lot of people to do something atleast now .. but I get the reply now leave it upto fate. I am convinced something should be there.. I checked several senior citizens insurance schemes like Varishta from New India assurance etc...but all of them seem to be lacking the core issue of covering the health of my parents till ripe old age.

I found this wonderful forum and also read several articles and hence I thought some experts and well wishers will suggest the best possible way to deal with this tricky issue.

Thank you so much

Regards
