Do you do online financial transactions? Why or why not?

Jun 6, 2007 7:41AM PDT

Do you do online financial transactions (online purchases, paying bills, banking, and so on)?

-- Yes, I do everything financial online. (Everything? Please explain.)
-- Yes, but very cautiously. (How so?)
-- Most of the time. (When do you not?)
-- Certain things only. (Please explain.)
-- No, I refuse to do so. (Why not?)
-- Absolutely not! Finances and online do not mix in my world. (Please explain.)
-- I would love to, but I'm afraid. (What scares you?)

After indentity theft, mostly online but with controls

I agree about using separate accounts but use my banks bill pay service for all rather than having credit card/bank account info scattered about. The bill pay service is linked to a sub-account that I transfer money into as needed. I also don't use auto-renew on software etc.

For purchases, I use PayPal or the same credit card for all on line sales. Not a dedicated card, just the same one.

I have been a victim of credit card/identity theft and one thing that prevented financial loss was my ability to rapidly stop activity on these accounts so I prefer to have as few sources of leaks as possible.

In a related vein, a board member of my credit union has said that they would have stopped mailing out statements if they could have and discussed charging for mailing statements. I replied that I would be glad to download their statements if they paid me for using MY paper.
