Resolved Question

Do you buckle up? (picture link follows)

Nobody died, they were on their feet in a hour but notice the hole in the windshield? No seatbelt. You can imagine what happened.

The driver and passenger areas were not crushed but for all that good design they didn't use the one thing to keep them inside.

Just a reminder to all.
Bob

PS. That was a 1999 Toyota Corolla.

That's because...
Mar 1, 2015 5:38AM PST

we Welsh were busy breeding 7 of your presidents. "And the land of the free," is a load of carp. Also most of your immigrants were chucked out of our countries because Australia was getting a bit full with sheep rustlers and blaggards. I hope you read this with a smile because that's how it was intended.

Which 7? Google US presidents with Welsh connections. Abe was one, born not too far from me. I will read your links tomorrow as it's bedtime here. Just as an aside, most of my passwords are in Welsh. I just know some bugger in Patagonia is gonna hack me!

The unfortunate truth is that we can't
Mar 1, 2015 8:17AM PST

always know what is truth. We're at the mercy of the history writers so we get no opportunity to form our opinions or impressions with first hand knowledge. I can imagine there were many reasons people left the England and other British Isles...maybe as many reasons as people who came here. We don't get to interview them ourselves and I've doubts that many history writers were able to do so either. I see no reason to seek bragging rights for what was done by people we don't and cannot know. Nor do I see reason to waste one minute of life holding a grudge under the same circumstances. Even people who've experienced a less than amicable divorce can sometimes remain good friends...or at least be decent and tolerant of one another. It would be good if we could retain the good that's come from history but suffer amnesia from that which was not.

From your own article, JP
Mar 1, 2015 6:34AM PST

"Early British settlers flocked to the U.S. to find wealth and/or religious freedom. These days, America is just as alluring to Brits with
about six percent of us saying we'd like to live here and around 700,000 of us currently doing so. But the reasons we migrate across the Pond have changed."

Emphasis mine.

My point is...it wasn't for "freedom" as you claimed...it was for RELIGIOUS freedom AND the #1 reason was WEALTH.

"First, the president issues unlawful executive orders giving illegal immigrants amnesty. Then, he dares an equal branch of government to vote on his orders' legality so he can veto it. Is he establishing a monarchy?

While speaking at a town hall meeting Wednesday night at Florida International University, President Obama clearly indicated that he believes he is the final authority on law in this country. He will not tolerate dissent."

State Seatbelt Laws
Mar 3, 2015 4:40AM PST

There is not one state with ANY seat belt laws at all. All but one state has either a Primary law covering all occupants of the vehicle which a driver can be pulled over specifically for lack of restraint of one or more occupants without any other violation OR a Secondary law which requires another citable violation to be committed before a ticket for lack of restraint of any occupants can be written by law enforcement. All states do have child safety laws. The one state that has no seat belt laws for adults is New Hampshire. Maine is presently looking into the possibility of revoking their adult seat belt laws.

Maine Weighs Revoking Seat Belt Law Days After 75-Car Pileup

It's an effort that even the bill's sponsor acknowledges is poor timing.

The Republican from Auburn acknowledged that people should wear seat belts and said he hopes the accident serves as a reminder of the importance to do so. But said he believes the mandate infringes on people's freedom to make personal decisions.

It's poor timing AND they SHOULD wear seat belts.

I'll bet he would vote against assisted suicide.

Should an ambulance "choose" to respond
Feb 28, 2015 11:28AM PST

to a motor vehicle accident when the occupants of the vehicle were NOT wearing a seat belt?

By responding to that accident they may have be diverted from responding to an accident where the occupants WERE wearing a seat belt.

NO seat belt...NO insurance coverage?
