Question

Do you agree that continuity of content through apps between

Apr 18, 2018 8:13PM PDT

Instant continuity of content is not available through apps on different devices. Instant continuity is availability and use of a content supplied by an app when a user moves from one device to the other. The availability should be supported by immediate access when users switch between devices, instead of having users to look for the content every time the user moves between devices. Do you agree that its inefficient today?

A perfect continuity scenario between, lets say, Smartphone, TV & Car stereo rendering the same music app is:
As I listen to music on my smartphone and I walk into my living room, the music should be ready to be continued on my TV when I switch it on OR when I step into my car, my car stereo should be smart enough to pick up the music.

Answer
Have to go with nope.

This idea/concept is fairly recent and you'll find it most often where it makes sense.

Cars tend to be all over the map so I don't expect cars to get this feature today unless you replace the system which may be impossible in many cars.

How would you move between devices?

@R Proffitt Thank you for your inputs!

Will it be possible for you to provide a real life example of your thoughts on the idea/concept being fairly recent, especially highlighting areas where it makes sense?

Cars manufacturers, like GM, have come up with their platform for apps. Thus, music apps can be developed on car stereos too, however, continuity aspect of user experience is missing.

Yes, there is CarPlay and Android Auto, but you'll need cables (to screen mirror) and the quality is not that great as heard directly through Car Stereo.

Again thank you for your response.

So you are shilling?
Apr 19, 2018 1:15PM PDT

Shilling is when you ask a question in hopes of promoting your app or products.

This is not allowed and deeply frowned on.

On top of that, it's vapor ware.

Apologies

Our actual intent is to understand if not having continuity on apps across device is a real problem or not.

Is it ok if we ask such a question?

We've update our previous question.

The question was fine.

But when you brought up your product in development it became shilling and spam.

This can get you tossed out of many forums.

(NT) No, that would be just too annoying

What if the annoying part could be curbed?

Yes that's a very valid point... What if the flow was to make music available on the TV/Car stereo and to not play automatically... Only if the user accepts the need to resume, should the music resume? Assume no interruptions till the app is accessed by the user on the TV/Stereo.

Don't I already have that sort of choice?
Apr 20, 2018 6:08PM PDT

If I am streaming music then I presumably have an account, iCloud perhaps, and wouldn't that music already be available to all my other devices.
Granted it would not resume at the spot it stopped at, although Crackle (and others) already have that option with movies, but hey, into every life.....
