Just like the desktop 64s...

Intel is keeping very quiet. The pressure is high to get it out, but there is a back pressure from current makers that need to empty out the 32-bit channels.

My sources say Intel 64-bit laptop chips before yearend.

64 bit and high end GPU notebooks...
Apr 10, 2005 12:22AM PDT

Does anyone know of a notebook that has a 64 bit processor and also a ATi x800 or a nVidia 6800?

Im not really concered about a 64 bit computer, I just dont think I want to get the Dell 9300 anymore. It would really suck if I got it and in a few months it came out with a 64 bit processer adding a good year to its usefullness...

Are you a gamer?

If so, you want to wait it out.

Kinda...
Apr 10, 2005 12:52AM PDT

Im a gamer when It comes to home consoles, but not computers... But I want to get into it.

I have never had a computer good enough to play video games (I'm on a emachines with 128MB of RAM and a S3 prosavage video card with shared memory) so that might be why I don't play PC games lol...

I keep going back to the dell 9300. Like right now I say I dont want it but that will all change tomorrow. Even though It wont be able to play all the games comeing out within the next year or so, it will be able to play any of the MMOs, or Roller Coaster Tycoon, or TS2, or even DOOM III. I'm thinking that might be enough to hold me over for the next 2 years.

(Also normally I would wait but that dell is only like 1,500 right nwo for a really good set up and im afraid after they bump it up to 64 bit they will stop with these $800 off deals.)

Just sharing.

The office picked up 2 R3000s with Athlon 64s for 720 and 829 each. Yes they were HP refurbs, but it meets out mandate that all new machines have 64-bit capability.

Drool guards have been installed.

I expect such deals to continue.

Well...

The R3000Z in general is a very good deal. I was looking at it for a while.

But it comes with a 64MB Nvidia GeForce 440. Even if it could run games that the 9300 can't, it really wouldnt matter because the graphics would be so bad. That Nvidia 6800 is like 6x as good as the GeForce4 440 go

What about the drool problem.

It appears no one (that owns or uses) seems to think these units are that lame. How do I keep the drool off these units at the office?

You're on your own.

I dont see why they would think they are drool worthy. They are big and ugly and offer nothing new. Yah is has a AMD 64 but thats noting special.

I think the ZD8000 or Inspiron 9300 actually have something to drool over.
