Do not allow your system to be transferred to Dell in Turkey

Apr 24, 2009 8:40PM PDT

When I was in Turkey having problems with my new battery, the Dell customer service there requested my laptop's info in order to help me and transferred my computer's registration to some black hole in Turkey. Their customer service is downright awful, worse than in the U.S., in spite of the complaints on this forum. Now that I'm on a business trip in Germany with a dead hard drive that should still be under warranty, I cannot obtain help from any arm in Dell, not in the U.S. (they can't find the records for my system), nor in Turkey (they were very rude to a customer speaking Turkish with a foreign accent), nor in Germany. I had actually talked/chatted with two guys in the Dell U.S. who made an earnest effort to be helpful, although in the end they couldn't find my system's info. In brief, whatever you do, stick with having your system registered in the U.S., even if you are living abroad. And stay away from Dell in Turkey.

Wow, the next time I'm in Turkey, I'll remember that.

Don't Use Dell Customer Service
Apr 15, 2011 12:58AM PDT

I have to totally agree about not transferring your ownership to Turkey. Since October, I have had my computer's hard disk replaced three times, the mother board once, and had to pay to have it sent to another city to have it serviced. It now has been in service 5 times and I have literally been trying to resolve this issue over a 5 month period. The same problem reoccurs everytime within hours of being fixed but Dell Turkey refuses to replace it. I have been on the phone to Dell Service in the US but since I transferred my ownership to Turkey, they are not able to help me. What makes it even more frustrating is every time I call into their service department, they have inadequate information on what work has already been done and I have to repeat the story from beginning everytime to only have them tell me to run the same diagnostic tests they had the day before. I can not possible express my dissappoint me in the way Dell has treated me here in Turkey and although I have used Dell for the last 10 years, I will never use them again. If your computer breaks down in Turkey, wait until you return home to get it fixed.

Do they eat turkey in Turkey? I always wondered that.
