Do indoor antennas work?

Dec 29, 2014 11:47PM PST

I'm in the process of moving to a new house and I've seen other comments here about cutting the cable. Since I'm living between the two houses and already have enough bills I don't want to create another one by having the satellite turned on here too.

Does anyone have any feedback on indoor antennas? I've seen some that are relatively inexpensive, but I don't want to buy one if they don't work.

Any feedback or suggestions?

Thanks!

If you live within 20 miles of the transmitter they are effective.

Antenna etc.

It depends on whether there are live broadcast signals in your area...in my area there are 4 stations available running off of repeaters..2 uhf and 2 vhf...3 of them are very good one is fair to good..again it depends signal availability. If you could get your hands on an old set of rabbit ears with uhf/vhf capability..it is a pretty simple test...again, depends on what is available in your area.

I assume you're talking about TV antennas

Yes they work for most local stations if you're close enough to the stations. I live probably 15 miles from several local stations, and I can get them with an indoor antenna. I think I paid $50 for the one I have. I have cable, but keep that antenna for backup in case of outages.

Good luck.

Yes, they certainly work. Make sure to choose a quality one like the HD that has a range of up to 50 miles.
