Do I need to save Windows 7 again?

Nov 11, 2010 5:10PM PST

Hullo!
I bought an HP laptop about two months ago and I had some trouble with it, so I had it changed. I brought the new one home yesterday and I was getting ready for the configuration. My question is the following: when I configured the first computer I needed to save the operating system on a DVD, in case reinstallation of system was in order. Do I need to do this again or can I use the old DVDs that I made the first time?
Thanks a lot for an answer!

(NT) I shouldn't take any risks and do it again.

I agree with Kees

Even though you may have an 'identical' looking replacement machine, there will always be differences, and it is best to scrap those old DVDs and start again.

Besides, if you had trouble with the first laptop, maybe those troubles were exported to the DVDs?

I'll take your kind advice

Kees, Mark, thanks for the prompt answer! In fact, the error was of a mechanical nature, one of the components being flawed. The new one is the exact same make and model (not down to the messed up component, I should hope!), but I suppose I'll be on the safer side if I follow your advice and make a new copy of the op system.

If it's the same make and model

If it's the same make and model, don't bother. If there are any differences in make and model, then you will want to make a new set.

I'll make a copy, to be safe

Thanks for your answer, but I think I'll take the advice of Kees and Mark and make a new copy of the op system.
