Apr 1, 2019 9:53AM PDT

Hello
I am having difficulty getting my win10 pro cd to boot my Acer b113, its a genuine cd and would like to run legacy bios and non uefi as I eventualy want to dual boot.
I have set bios to legacy and non uefi and have an external usb2 dvd drive but it does not see it as boot .
Should it boot.
Thanks

Answer
Win10 can be had on DVD and USB.

It doesn't matter if you have the W10 DVD. Just go ahead and use Microsoft's Media Creation Kit (no ISO involved or mentioned ever) and try a boot from the USB version. You use your key for this one.

As only those that own this can answer I'd check one other thing. Make sure the BIOS is current and to factory settings before the W10 install.

I would still like to know it win10 cd will install without secure boot and uefi mode. I can get various usb downloads but would like to use the windows cd I have.
Also could you explain what are factory settings.
Thanks

1. So easy to try if it will boot and start the setup by asking what keyboard you have, that it's hardly needed to ask it here. What happens? If it doesn't, boot from the current OS (Windows 7 or 8, I assume) and run the setup.exe from the disk. That's the usual way to upgrade. Make an image backup first.
2. It's not a CD, but a DVD. However, if it's an old one, very soon you'll get a lot of updates or the 1809 upgrade. So it's faster to start with that by downloading it now.
3. Factory settings is the OS and software that Acer sold your PC with.
