do I have cardbus?

Oct 1, 2004 6:28AM PDT

I have an older laptop Pentium 233 MHZ,TELOS brand(same as Metrobook,& a bunch of diffrent clones).
I just purchased a wireless router,& it came with a wireless PCMIA cardbus card. The card fits into the slot with no problem, but it does nothing. It has a power light on it,but that doesn't even come on(should it? even if my system is not cardbus?).I know the slot is good, because I have a 3 com 56k modem that works in it.the PC is compatible with type I,II,III PCMIA cards. The controller is a Trident Omega 82c094 PCI to PCMIA bridge.I looked it up on the net,& don't think it supports cardbus, but am not sure?
THe main thing that has me wondering,is if the power light is supposed to come on reguardless,as long as the card is fully installed into a slot,so I will know if the card is good or not,(it is brand new)as I don't have any other way to test it.
Thanks for any help,
Chad

if I have cardbus, should the power light on the card come on when I install it?Or do I need to have the drivers and stuff installed for it to get power?
My main concern right now is to make sure the card is good(although it would be nice to have a wireless connection to the laptop)
thanks
