Do DVD recorders (non-computer type) allow you copy movies??

by higdawg2000 / May 7, 2007 2:18 AM PDT

I am thinking about purchasing a DVD recorder(stand alone, not PC drive). They are a lot less expensive then I anticipated and I would really like to be able to transfer some of the programs on my Comcast DVR to DVD as well as make copies of my movies from Netflix. Are ther any DVD recorders out currently that will allow me to transfer either the contents of the DVR or a DVD digitally to the DVD recorder(via HDMI?) or would i need to play the show or movie in real time and record it through analog connections? Does the DVDs built in copy protection have an effect? I don't really care all that much about the special features on the DVD....if I could just copy the movie I'd be happy. Any feedback would be appreciated!!

Forget it. I think most if not all are copy protected and the protection are getting too good (and I know, haha).
