DNS problem

Apr 30, 2005 12:53AM PDT

Running windows XP

I am writing this for someone else. Here is what is happening:

When connected to the internet with Verizon DSL they cannot load web pages. Verizon said they have a problem with DNS. Verizon had them try to ping www.yahoo.com and were losing packets. Verizon had no suggestions.

Any help would be appreciated.

It may not be the user's problem and ... I have no cure. Lookup DNS POISONING on google.com to read up on the the issue that even I get from time to time.

Any service can get hit with the denial of service attack.

flush DNS
May 2, 2005 10:46AM PDT

Try this command at a DOS prompt:(go Start-->Run-->cmd <Enter>

type: ipconfig/flushdns <Enter>

This will flush the local DNS cache on your pc. This may or may not completely resolve the issue but it is a good, logical first step. Hope this helps.
