Resolved Question

DNS goes down often, only fixed by network diagnostics.

Jul 3, 2017 5:19PM PDT

Title sums it up nicely. Every 10 minutes or so my DNS goes down, and is only fixed after I do windows network diagnostics. The diagnostics error message is Cannot communicate with primary DNS server, or something close to that, but it always fixes it. Until it goes down again in a few minutes. So far ive tried switching to google's public DNS, which didn't work. Any help is appreciated.

The adwcleaner from the link you sent seems to have solved the problem.

"Hmm, that sounds like a DNS hijack."

That's why I nodded to Grif's scan collection.

reopening
Jul 9, 2017 10:23PM PDT

I think we may need to reopen this discussion. as of last time, I found a few pup.optionals that seemed to be causing the problem and removed them like the guide said. These caused my internet to be perfect for about 4 days, upon which the problem started up again, only this time, there was no visible malware during the scans.Kinda at a loss for how to resolve it, as previous fix has worked perfectly up to this point.

I'm running into issues where the using is using cracks and torrents so the OS gets too banged up and you have to reload.

Likely an Intermittent Sync Issue
Jul 10, 2017 7:52PM PDT

From what I can tell, intermittent sync is occurring. Likely, the modem/router is losing connectivity frequently. Windows Network Diagnostics is managing to reconnect your computer to the Internet once the modem/router authenticates with your ISP. Viruses could be disrupting the computer's connectivity to the modem, too. If the disconnects continue to happen after malware and viruses have been cleared from your computer, a modem reboot could be done to see if connectivity improves. As modems near their lifespan limit, they tend to become flaky. They disconnect more often than they should be doing so. Your ISP will be able to assist you with modem issues. Sometimes firmware updates can make a difference.
