DNLA performance with picures (Jpeg) over wired ethernet

Dec 23, 2008 5:06AM PST

HI

Greate forum, enough to buy Samsung alone.

I want to buy TV with DNLA. Used media player before and are fed up with to many boxes and remote controls.

And because of mixed experience with media players I want to make sure I buy the right thing.

1) Over wired ethernet can I expect to browse jpeg files of 2 to 4 Mbytes, in less than 1-2 seconds.
that is going from one picture to the other.
My pictures reside on a windows PC, all connected by 100Mbit ethernet.

2) Rendering of JPG files is resolution at the TV?s maximum and are the colours OK.
OK cant expect perfect colours or ability to calibrate colours but expect that it looks good.

Understand Samsung is easy to ugrade firmware on, and that updates are more or less frequent.
That is yet another reason to buy Samsung. Is there any policy on how long a TV?s firmware is being mantained, bugs fixed and functionality added.

Regards
Coming owner of Samsung

Specs and Realtime

Midtveit,

Thank you for your kind words.

Here are the formats that can be transferred through DNLA. Please remember that not all formats can be used.

You can also use the WiseLink feature with a thumbdrive, where you can show pictures in a slideshow - 1-2 seconds also.

The rendering is dependant on if the format is compatible.

Updates for the televisions may often fix problems, and in some cases add capabilities, however, the link above will probably not include more specifications later on.

Thank you for considering Samsung products, and if I can answer anything else, please let me know.

JPEG and photo management

Hi

I categorize my 1000's of pictures in to 3 categories, unclassified, GOOD and VERY GOOD. when viewing pictures on TV its normally only the GOOD and VERY Good that I want to watch.
the pictures are tagged with GOOD etc by writing metadata to the JPEG files.

QUESTION: Would it be possible to use the tags in JPEG metafile with DNLA and samsung.

Alternatively I will have to export GOOD and VERY GOOD pictures to separate folders

Anyone with ideas how to use tags in JPEG files when viewing on TV.
Ideally I would also like to set my quality tag to GOOD or VERY GOOD.

Regards

I don't believe there is an extensive tag functionality, but let me double check on that on Monday.

Your best bet would probably be to use specific folders if you already have them sorted that way.
