There is a core charge to that part. This is for your info and not any statement on your current issues.
I have a 50" DLP TV. I called Samsung a month ago about this problem, and they acknowledged that this set has had issues, and offered to pay the cost of a replacement chip for my set, but I would have to cover the labor. Ok, sounded good, so I setup a service appointment with them. A week later, the service center calls and says they can't get out anytime soon. The next service center I spoke to said that their technician hurt his back, so they couldn't get out anytime soon. The next service center raised their price between phone calls.
Finally being fed up, I called Samsung, and asked them to just send me the chip, since I am tech-savvy and would just replace it myself. Well, nope! I spoke with the executive department, and they refused to do this. They said that they would only cover the cost of the part if I used "a Samsung authorized service center." In my opinion, this is very poor customer service. They acknowledge that there is a problem, which is why they are covering the cost of the part, but only if I pay one of their affiliates to do the work.
Needless to say, this will be my last Samsung product, which is disappointing, because up until this point I have been pretty happy with them.
