samsung hl-85065w has no picture and no sound. what could cause both problems

There are many prior discussions on this 2008 TV.
http://www.fixyourdlp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1194&p=3899 for example. This model looks to be 720p and very old. While it could be the lamp you would know how old the lamp is and more.

Clues are too sparse here. It could be a blown power supply but you again would know if the owner kept the vents and fans clean. Heat kills.

Speaking from experience,

not worth the trouble of fixing. Get a new TV. But for $21, maybe it is worth a try. I remember I had to paid more than 60 buck for the lamp and that was long long time ago (oh the lamp wasn't the problem).
