DLP Issue

by bradgenung / September 17, 2009 6:22 AM PDT

I just replaced my lamp on my DLP and about 2 weeks later my color wheel goes out. I replaced the wheel last night and now when I start up my TV I can hear sound, but the lamp indicator just blinks and it never comes on. I know the lamp is not bad it maybe has 10 hours on it since being replaced. I get a blinking lamp light at first and after the TV tries to light the lamp through its 3 cycles the indicator lights then make that "mad face" where all three are lit.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Now that I am back home and looking at everything there are a few more things that I notive. First of all I am not getting that Samsung startup sound when turning on the power. Also I don't hear the color wheel turning on. Does the lamp require the color wheel be working before it will turn on? And last thing I see but I am not quite sure if it is right or wrong, but when I look at the old color wheel on the copper strip coming off the wheel that slides into the slot.... I see on the old one that there is an exposed metal area on the end of that strip that I assume is where the slot and the color wheel make their connection. Well on the new wheel the copper strip just runs up and there is no exposed metal end on it like that old wheel. Would that also prevent the lamp from even lighting?

Just to finsih clearing everything up this is a HLP6163WX/XAA

Once again thank for any help on this topic!!!

I'm not able to see the comparison you described regarding the color wheel on the copper strip.

But if the lamp is failing to light, you might want to try reseating the lamp - pulling it out, pushing it in firmly and trying to restart the unit. Outside of that, I'm not able to make a diagnosis and the unit (and you!) would be best served with a physical diagnosis.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
