DLink DWL G630 issue

Sep 5, 2005 9:58PM PDT

Hoping somebody could help me with this.
I installed the above wireless card on my daughter's compaq laptop this weekend (it runs XP with service pack 2). Everything works fine except when the laptop is powered up after a shutdown. The computer won't find (or rather start) the wireless card unless we eject the card then put it back in again. If we do this everything works fine.
Any ideas?

I returned it for another make. The 650 was a miss too for some.

DLink Work Around
Sep 10, 2005 2:14PM PDT

The DLink Support are *********** and will be no help.
Especially if your using a refurbished from Tiger Direct. They claim it's not warrantied evn though you receive a 30 day warranty card from DLink.

That's about it for my venting heres the problem as I see it. The Card tries to initialize 5 times before windows XP has actually loaded then shuts down. Windows does not recognize the card since it shut down so you have to restart the Cardbus controller. I'm assuming you have an OZ6912 lke everyone else who I've seen post this problem.

Download the Devcon utility fom microsoft from this link:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q311272

install it to a new directory called "C:\devcon"

copy the text indicated below into Notepad and save as "C:\devcon\KickStart.reg"

DoubleClick on KickStart.reg - this will update your registry.

Restart Your computer and your card should work.

Good Luck
