DLink DSM-510 Won't Play Videos And Gets Greyed Out

May 23, 2008 5:35AM PDT

Hi,

I just brought a new DLink DSM-510 HD Media Streamer and the problem I am having is I can't get the device to be recognized under Windows Media Player 11. So I called DLink Technical Support and they told me to Try out Tversity so I used it and I was able to stream Music and Photos but when I tryed to add Videos in that were supported and I go to the device and the videos show up but for some reason it gets greyed out and when I tryed to play it won't play. So I decided to try to put the same file on a USB flash drive and I was able to play it but not when I try to stream it using Tversity and I thought the Tversity Software that I used didn't support the video file format and when I checked it support it but DLink recommended Windows Media Player 11 but I can't get it to recognize the device so I decided to call DLink Technical Support again and they said the device might be defective and they said to try it on another computer but I only have one laptop so I spend a couple of days trying to figure it out.

So if any of you out there can help me on how to get it working that would be great.

Thank You

Ready to be gifted out. It didn't work then so make this a warranty issue or get your money back.

So it appeared that the device is being recognized.

It's just the video not properly working. What kind of video are you trying to view? If it's divx, I see that firmware update maybe required (according to Dlink website).
