The unsafe part is likely the choice of wifi encryption.
Change that router to its defaults and then enable WPA for the wifi.
That's about all I'd do here.
I have an IMac + a mac book
I have been surfing wireless for more than 2 years without any problem (with a Belkin Wireless Router)
I have been told that my set up is not safe. So I purchased a set of dLan adaptor switches (devolo dLAN duo Starter Kit - Ethernet or USB) for my IMac to go online via an Ethernet connection. I plugged the adaptor switches to the modem... no problem it works.
However the laptop still needs to remain wireless.
I do not seem to be able to use my wireless router + those plugs (I am not very technical and it might be a daft question)
How do I go by having the IMac to use the Ethernet connection and the laptop to be wireless?
Do I need to purchase a devolo dLAN Wireless Extender as well?
Note: For the time being I have reverted to my original setup: both computer wireless and I seem to have problems getting the 2 computers online at the same time... It is frustrating.
Thank you for reading.
I hope someone can help me.
