Programs

There are several programs you may find good but the big thing is HOW are you doing the mixing? Are you doing solely digital based mixing, or did you want to hook up a board to your computer? Also, your soundcard is going to play a big role as well! Is your sound card capable of allowing you to cue music through headphones while listening to your mix in your speakers? Do you have more than one sound card you can operate at a time?

These are just a few of the tings you'll find that factor in for you when you begin. Me, I have an ok soundcard but I can';t do any cueing with SOUND; I do it visually! I use AtomixMP3 and I know that may sound lame but I never use the auto mix feature; I use the program so that I may visually mix, instead of mixing with sound. The visuals are just awesome! yOu can line your beats up visually without ever having to listen to the song you're bringing in.

There are also some other programs such as Tracktor DJ, DSS DJ, Virtual DJ, BPM Studio, and PCDJ.

Dj how to ........
Jan 26, 2005 2:46AM PST

this is not a very easily acquired skill. First of all a good musical ear is required. Simple skills at first lead to more complexed and intricate missing technics and tricks with infinitive possibilities of self expression. The ability to listen to two seperate sounds, one in the ear and one in the surroundings and the ability to judge the speed of each and to adjust the pitch accordingly to bring together the two, or three, or four........

Also needed is a delicate yet precise touch if using vinyl.

How to DJ

Well, the BEST way to learn how to DJ is to find a friend that DJ's and learn from experience! You can always find DJ gear online, but you must think about the genre of music you are playing before you buy equipment. Also what kind of DJ are you going to be? Are you going digital or vinyl? Best Of Luck!
