DIY External HDD question

Feb 24, 2005 1:44PM PST

Great forum - found answers to most of the questions i had about putting together an external HD enclosure.

I do have a question about getting windows XP to recognize the external HD as removable as opposed to just a "hard drive" with a volume letter. Is it possible to have it recognized under the removable storage in 'my computer' or is it the norm for it to be under the 'hard drive'. Am i just being picky because the drive works ok & can connect/reconnect to one computer...seems to work ok (although i haven't tried using it on a different computer). Any thoughts?

specs: WD 120 gig HD w/8 meg cache, ULTRA compact 3.5" enclosure.
