I am totally confused about downloading DivX movies, Video on Demand, etc. I am not even sure that Video on Demand is a separate company or even a brand from DivX. I live in Mexico, and people here are now able to get "VIDEO ON DEMAND" through their cable service here or in the States. Is this company related to DivX.com?
I just bought a so-called DivX-compatible DVD Player from Samsung. The DVD?s Menu displays a DivX registration number. So, I went to the DivX.com site, downloaded their DivX player as obligated, created a user account and entered the reg. number of my Samsung DVD player. Then what can I do? All I want to do is download movies from a friend here who has a computer, have them burned to a DVD, and play them on my regular DVD player connected to my high definition LCD TV. But all I see at DivX?s player is a link to this site called Stage6. ?? I thought that it would display verifiable sites or places where real full-length movies in DivX-MPEG-4 could be downloaded.
When I do a search for DixV movies, I get to a site from DixX with sponsored links to sites where "millions of movies" can be downloaded by downloading their software, and also entering a credit card number. I have no issue at all with paying for the downloaded movies. I just do not know if these sites are reliable, and whether these files will actually play on the my DivX compatible DVD player. Some of the sites I have seen are called GetPCMovies and MoviesForPC.com. Please help! Thanks.
