divx 6.6 Error message...unable to play in dvd unit

Oct 6, 2007 3:06AM PDT

I have attempted to contact divx numerous times and no response. I began using divx over year ago. It was 6.2 initially. I use BitComet to download, transfer to divx to burn and then play philips dvd recorder combo. It has worked great until recently. All burned prior to couple weeks ago are recognized. Now, I get error prompt on dvd player stating to eject it is unable to recognize. I have gone through many discs trying different things. I have unistalled and reinstalled the divix bundle to no avail. I appreciate any help. I am so frustrated. I called the telephone # for divx, but it is only to buy products. So the no replay from email attempts. Thanks so much for any help. I have several files just waiting to be burned. I can watch them on divx, just not burn and watch on dvd player.

divx error

Yes, when I transfer to divx from bitcomet, it plays. It happens when burn to disc and try to play in dvd player. All previously burned play prior to couple weeks ago. I wondered if it had something to do with the upgrade to 6.6. I had that problem with bitcoment. With it I found a previous version 84 and it solved that problem. I was going to try that, but was unable to find a previous version to return to the original 6.2 divx. Thanks.

Actually, I meant to play the burn disc on the computer.

Anyway..the only thing I can think of might be that you created the video at high-definition resolution which would required a hi-def player and hi-def display/tv.

You're right, I did try to play and it wouldn't. Didn't think of that since I never do. So how, did it get to HD? When I did the update? Sorry, I'm not savvy at this. Thanks.

Since the disc didn't play on the computer,

I am at a lost also. Have you compare the file on the disc with that of the file on the computer (the one that you burn the disc from)? Are they the same size? Check it's "properties".

Thanks for your help yesterday. I finally got it! I was using "-", but needed to be using "+". Duh! Such a small thing to cause such a long, frustrating situation. Again, thank.
