Dissapearing Mouse

Feb 15, 2004 4:53PM PST

I have recently installed Windows XP Pro on a machine with a Micrtosoft USB intellimouse installed. Thge mouse is connected to a USB port on a LG Flatron 915FT monitor.
When windows is restarted the mouse dissapears from the hardware profile and consequently does not function.
By using the add hardware wizard the mouse immediately comes to life even if you then cancel the wizard. The mouse is then in the hardware profile and works fine. As soon as the machine is rebooted it dissapears again.
How do I solve this?

If you plug the mouse into a USB port on the computer is the same action seen?

I have not yet tried this yet, but the mouse was working ok before I reformatted the hard drive and loaded XP with SP1. Previously the machine was running on an early version of XP without SP1. I did also have problems with the on board AC97 sound and Wise USB V90 modem but cured these by loading drivers from CD/internet(using another PC).

And what of the motherboard drivers? Did you reinstall them.

As far as I am aware yes, as I used the motherboard CD to load the sound driver, ASUS probe and ASSUS update
