Display Size/Placement Issues

Aug 11, 2010 9:08AM PDT

Hey, the problem I am having is that my computer display is off center. I am using a 40" Toshiba TV as a monitor. When I use the normal computer to monitor cable the computer display is at 1600x1200, but there is a moderately sized black strip on the left side of my screen and a bit on the right side is missing. I also have a HDMI cable I run from my computer to my TV as an alternate, less used form of display but the problem with that is it cuts off every side of the display, for example on the bottom all I can see is the very top of the start menu. With the HDMI I try running at 1920x1080 because I really want to be able to do screen recordings in 1080p but it is impossible with part of my screen missing. I would prefer to be able to run at 1920x1080 all the time but it is unuseable compared to the standard monitor cable. Please help me.

I am running:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33GHz processor
3 GBs of RAM
Nvidea GeForce GTX 460 graphics card.

I greatly appreciate any suggestions or reccomandations, thank you.
