Since your unit is likely still under warranty, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG and scheduling a service call. I do know that if you can re-create the problem in front of the tech (or have pics or video), that it will increase the ability for them to determine what is wrong.
If you'd like, also register the unit online. Doing so will give you 3 months of additional warranty coverage for free.

When I turn on the TV for the first after being off for a couple hours, the whole screen displays a grid of horizontal and vertical lines as well as various other undesirable displays of electronic noise. I can see the picture as part of the display.
I will then turn off the TV and let the screen go black, restart the TV and it displays the picture correctly.
I've owned the TV for about 9 months. I'd appreciate any advice or direction that you can offer.
