Display problems

by fritzie13 / September 17, 2009 2:57 PM PDT

I have been experiencing frequent problems with my display freezing, suddenly showing vertical lines, or blacking out completely. I have a custom built computer with a Asus K8V-MX motherboard. I believe it has integrated graphics for monitor connection. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 913v monitor. I laso have an unused AGP8x slot. Could my integrated graphics be failing and could I buy a AGP card for my empty slot to replace it? I also have a wireless LX700 Logitech mouse and keyboard combination. O/S is Windows XP
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't have an idea how long you have been using each part, so I could only guess.

Usually, display problems could be triggered by multiple factors (could be your monitor, that's why I want to know how long you have been using each part). Have you checked your monitor using another PC or another external device? if it is working well then good.

I don't rely on my motherboard alone for my video graphic needs, because most probably you would be needing much more resources. There are many cheap AGP cards you can purchase. But first, What kind of programs do you usually run? And are you experiencing the freezing and blackout while doing nothing (letting your PC on stand by)?

Provide the complete scenario when you are using it, like for example, you are running this " " kind of program or doing this when the black out occurs.

How about your RAM how big did you install?
Hope I could help.

The Samsung RF23M8090SG

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
