It sounds like you've upgraded the computer's operating system to Windows XP from some other previous operating system. The old hardware, video cards, etc. may not be compatible with Windows XP at all, but you need to check for the newest video and audio drivers by going to the video card manufacturer's website and installing all the newest drivers for ALL of your hardware.

Check for the various drivers by clickin on "Start, then RIGHT click on "My Computer", choose "Properties". When that loads, click on the "Hardware" tab, then click on the "Device Manager" button. When that loads, to look for the video device driver, scroll down to the "Audio, Video, and Game Controllers" listing, click on the + sign next to it, then RIGHT click on the specific video device listed there. Find the name and version number of the Video driver, then find a new one (XP compatible) at the computer manufacturer's website. Download and install it. Do the same for the various video and audio drivers, etc.

Next, click on the + sign next to the "Display Adapters" listing and find the drivers listed for your particular "Display device". Find and Install a new XP version for that also.

Hope this helps.
