Disk read error

I am using vista 64Bit OS; On restart of computer it gives me a disk read error and will not boot. I have entered cmos and the boot sequence is the hard drive. I have spec on computer and product key, however I do not have an recovery disk. help

Try replacing the HDD then ordering restore media?

I have not replaced the hard drive. It was booting fine, without any problem. I restarted and had the problem mentioned. New ideas.

Sorry but your machine sounds as it's the same old problems of failed HDD and no restore media.

I'm left to guess you want to fix it without the right parts? If so we'll have to try booting with some OS on CD that will let you limp along.

Try UBUNTU's bootable CD next.
