Canon changes the SD cameras every year.
This year they seem to be pushing everything toward "no viewfinder" and wide angle lens.
The SD780 and SD1200 are the closest match to the SD850.
You might look at the A1100IS.
It is only slightly larger, but closely matches the SD850IS specifications.

I had this camera (Canon PowerShot SD850 IS Digital Elph), bought it around May 2008, and I totally LOVED it. I bought it for something around $200+ and it was the perfect camera for the price, with optical viewfinder, 4x optical zoom, and it took great pictures. Took it everywhere with me.
I was at a wedding reception last summer 2009, had a few cocktails, and dropped the camera on the cement floor -- not so good. Camera was permanently fouled up, so I sold it on eBay for parts.
But I loved that camera. And so now the problem is -- its been discontinued. Why? Or perhaps more importantly, what is an adequate replacement for it? I'm kind of partial to the Canon PowerShot.
I need a decent replacement, with an optical viewfinder, and good optical zoom, that takes good pictures. I have been looking at the SD1200 or the SD780, but neither seems to quite match the level of the SD850.
Any thoughts or suggestions? THANK YOU !!!
