I won't write what a VPN is since you use such and there is google.
But as you are on a VPN connection any local network share does vanish and that is proper. Your IT staff should be able to explain that in more depth.
If the service center's network has a share that is offline then you call them and ask them to put it back online.

When I remote into our service server and go into My Computer to view the file explorer, there's 2 drives that always say disconnected drive. When I double click on them to try to view the drives, they both show what's in the drives. The one drive, after I do that, will say where the drive is mapped but the other one still says disconnected drive. Why is this? I can get into the drive, yet it says it's disconnected. I'm confused as to why this is. I'm wondering if this is causing a problem with a service I'm trying to run on this server (created from vb.net - getting the error 'Failed to connect to database. The Connection String property has not been initialized.')
