Question

Disassembled laptop, now won't power

Apr 20, 2015 9:40AM PDT

Recently did some disassembly on my HP Pavilion dv6 to see if there was dust in fan, and it won't power on now, meaning nothing comes on the screen, and no sounds from the computer. Most of what I did was just unscrewing some screws and putting them back in. I can think of three things which may cause the problem.
I unplugged both my keyboard and hard drive at one point. I have no reason to believe anything went wrong, but if anyone can confirm that these will prevent power, I'll no where to proceed.
More importantly, when I was putting the frame back on, a nut fell out of the computer pictured here, http://imgur.com/rSlb2Ce. I honestly have no idea where it came from, and decided to put my laptop back together, hoping that the nut only served for structural integrity and didn't actually function for the computer. It's also worth mentioning that the nut appears to be a little uneven as though it might have broken off something. Anyone have clues on what to do?

To clean a fan wouldn't have me taking other than the casing screws out.

If you're willing to sit through a video, I was following this video, https://youtu.be/el0B6imb5hg until the 6:30 mark. I stopped because I had one screw still in that would not let me proceed. Although I could not take the casing out, due to the fact that there was only one screw in, I could rotate it, which is what I suspect made the nut fall out.

Do you have a backup of your system? If not, it's a long road. We only miss which we don't back up!

When I have my laptop plugged in a light appears by the plug, which to me indicates the power is fine. My suspiscion is that the problem is simply that the power button is not connected properly.
