I was wondering if someone could help me out with my external hard drive. For some reason, my computer no longer recognizes the hard drive (it used to be recognized just fine). It's a Seagate hard drive (Seagate 250-GB ATA ST3250823A) in a ULTRA Enclosure (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2206375&CatId=525)
and is connected to my laptop via USB. When I plug in the USB cable and switch on the power to the external hard drive, the power lights come on and the hard drive spins (with no weird sounds) but nothing happens after that. No hardware notification or anything. When I open Disk Management under My Computer it's not there, however it does show up under USB controllers as USB Mass Storage Device under the Device Manager (and sometimes there is a yellow exclamation point on it). Usually when I plug it in and turn it on, the red activity light blinks and the external hard drive makes some clicking noises before it pops up in Explorer. Now it just spins and nothing shows up. Also, if I leave the external hard drive on, my computer takes forever to turn off and also takes forever to boot up (it just sits at the boot up screen until I turn off the external hard drive).
I'm running Windows XP SP2 in a Fujitsu Laptop (P7101D).
Any help would be awesome.
