Disappearing blinking cursor

I have Vista and Office 2007. My problem: When typing in Word or email programs, my blinking cursor disappears about every two minutes and re-appears in 25 seconds. This is the blinking cursor, which ends typing when it disappears, not to be confused with the mouse arrow.
