General discussion

disabling default sound alert in office

Nov 30, 2005 5:17AM PST

Ok, the Microsoft forum let me down, so I turn to y'all.

Where I work, we use Office 2003 w/ Exchange 2003. Whenever we receive an email that's been flagged as "high importance", we get a default triple beep sound. I am trying to disable that sound.

I checked in control panel>sounds..., and I see the setting/sound for a general email notification, but nothing for those flagged as "high importance".

I created a rule that plays my own sound when such an email comes in, but now, when a flagged email arrives, I get the triple beep followed by my personal sound.

So, how can I disable the oh-so-annoying default triple beep? Is it even possible? Wondering if it's something that's set at the server level?

Thanks in advance for any/all help!

Jim

...that was it. We use the View mail app. in order to be able to play/route vm attachment to our phones.

I don't actually need it, as I have a dedicated workspace w/ pc, but our Call Center uses Winterms, and so the only way they can play voice mails is to click on it and have it route over their phones.

Once I unchecked view mail in the add-in/on section of "tools>options.....", the annoying dbl beep went away.

You've made a small group of folk extremely happy - thanks!
