DirectX - from corrupted download

by sportmom222 / August 23, 2006 12:32 PM PDT

I would like to know how to upgrade/download a DirectX9 or higher as the version I have is lower, 6.14 I think. I am trying to download OceanDive, and this may be one of the reasons my download was corrupted. Still trying to get that issue resolved.
Windows XP professional, 256 meg ram, 64 meg video card, (my system). I am open to suggestions as the problem with the corrupted download is my system, as others have downloaded this "OceanDive" program from without any problems. Can anyone help me get this issue resolved??? Thank you for your time! sportmom222

It's certainly not...

...DirectX 6.14 as Winblows XP Pro comes fully equipped out of the box with DirectX9 (C usually).

Use Windows Explorer, and go to Program Files > DirectX > Setup : then double click on "DxDiag" (or file search if you prefer).

After a few seconds, it'll show the version of DirectX you have installed. This doesn't help with your main problem with corrupted downloads, but it removes what you think is causing you problems, and possibly adds a new avenue of solutions.

I have done that already and I do not have DirectX9, it is a lesser version. How do I get DirectX9?? How do I get this upgraded? Thank you for your response, and your time. sportmom222.

Download DirectX 9.0c From....
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / August 24, 2006 12:31 AM PDT

...the link below. I've included the link for the "Full" downloadable package. It's about 53 MB in size so you'll want a fast broadband connection to accomplish the download. Once it's downloaded to your desktop, create a new folder on your desktop called "DirectX 9", then doubleclick on the downloaded .exe file to extract the installer files to the new desktop folder. (You'll need to direct the download to that new folder by browsing to the folder.) Once that's done, open the folder and double click on the "DXSetup.exe" file to install Directx.:

Hope this helps.
