I have been a member of DirecTV for over 10 years and have never waited more than 15 minutes to reach anyone. Also my daughter had a similar problem with a sub-contractor and went with Dish network. After her meeting the 2 year requirement she changed to DirecTV and she is glad she did. It has far more to offer than Dish. The customer service at DirecTV have always been courteous and they have even given me free premium channels and $5 per month off for a year whenever I had a problem that was not resolved in a timely fashion. Good luck with Dish Network. It is unfortunate that the sub-contractor was incapable as was the one my daughter originally had.
Thinking about signing up with DirecTV? So was I and I am glad I didn't and here is why.
I signed up for directv service and scheduled an install for a thursday between noon and 4pm.
Since I was having 4 TVs hooked up, I figured the installer would show up close to noon so they could be done by 4 but they never showed up. So at 405pm I called the installer company which is sub contracted by directv. The only choice I had was to leave a message so I did. After about 30 minutes I got a call back saying that their installer was lost and that they would call me back in a few minutes to let me know when he would be here. After about an hour without hearing from them I called them back, but they were closed for the day.
My next call was to dirctv which after about a half hour on hold I was told that they didnt know where he was. I said that I would like to just cancel the installation at which time I was told I would be billed a cancellation fee. WHAT? When I asked why I was told because the installer showed up at 2pm but no one was home and was told that they could send him back out yet tonight to do the install. Since I already took a vacation day from work and didnt want to have to take another one I said ok. I was then promised the installer would be there by 730pm. By the way I was home at 2pm in fact i was home from noon until 730pm waiting on them.
At 720pm the installer called me and said he wasnt going to make it. I asked him if he happend to come earlier around 2pm. He said no and that he hasnt been in my area all day. I said thanks and called back directv and after another 30 minutes on hold I just happend to speak with the same person who told me the installer was there at 2pm. I told him I wanted to cancel, and by the way that I had also spoken to the installer who admitted that he never made the appointment time frame and never came to my house ealier like you told me he did. I heard 2 beeps and was transferred to customer service.
I spent another hour waiting to talk to customer service and getting cut off once, hung up on once and finally was able to cancel my installation.
Directv employees were rude, their contracters were incompetent and could care less about me as a customer. There was only one problem here. I wasnt a customer yet and if that's how they treat you before you are a customer, I sure dont want to find out how they treat you once you are.
Dish Network is coming out next monday between noon and 5pm, or so I hope.
