DirecTV and TIVO compatability?

I recently switched over to DirecTV, and I have a TIVO series 2 DVR, I am unable to get my DirecTV to change channels on the TIVO using the IR wiring. Is this a compatability issue or does anyone know a secret. I asked DirecTV and they recommend getting their DVR...of course!

DirecTV Tivo

You can buy used DirecTV Tivo units on ebay for under 60 dollars.

Highly recommended as the combination is so seamless and the recorded stream is the original digital feed.

The receiver can't change the DVR's channel.

It sounds like you might have it set up backwards. The TiVo DVR needs to change the channels on the DirecTV receiver. A serial connection works with newer receivers, but the IR blasters can be used, as well. G'luck.

Works on mine

I have a new series 2 Tivo and using the IR works great - be sure you have the plug in to the right jack and in tight - mine wasn't at first and would notn change channels. I plugged it in again and made sure it was in all the way and presto.
