Digital TV picture not so good UE55C8705

by Sabrina31102005 / August 7, 2010 4:41 AM PDT

I have just bought a UE55C8705, when watching a digital program lets say BBC1 delivered fro SKY TV via a satelite dish the picture is a little fuzzy specially with background movement.
The HD is very sharp and the 3D is also very sharp as there is not so much HD and digital is more or less standard l am not happy. The picture l got on my old Samsung LE40R51B was much better.
I have my TV connected with a good quality HDMI cable what can l do to get a better picture ??
Anyone got any ideas settings etc
Thanks

Sabrina31102005,

The background movement may vary, and that depends on what kind of source signal is being sent to the TV. When you see this, press the INFO button on the remote to see what the incoming resolution is.

If it's under 720p (1280x720), you might try changing the output of the Skybox in the picture menu settings to send a higher resolution to the TV. Keep in mind that in some cases, the AUTO setting may choose the best one, but symptoms happening in background picture may be the result of a low resolution or signal compression while transmitting.

You might try adjusting the AutoMotion Plus option in the TV menu as well. In some cases, "OFF" may be the best option to choose.

Keep me posted.

i have tried what you asked but no difference l have set Sky output to 1080i, the picture being transmitted is 720x576@50Hz. I have also tried to mess with the motion plus but just the same. But as l said before why is this picture worse than my older Samsung ??

Sabrina31102005,

Unfortunately, I'm not able to answer why the picture would look better than another without knowing why, or see what you're able to see. I'm not sure how to address the situation other than suggesting that the input signal is different, or there was a difference that could point to an adjustment.
