Digital Sync Delay

Mar 20, 2009 4:17AM PDT

Hello,
I was wondering if any of the Samsung Home Theatre systems have a digital sync delay option?
I just purchased a LE40A656 LCD TV, and when im using my old pioneer surround system, im getting lipsync.
Maybe another solution?

If you have a cable box in the mix,do you have HDMI or optical going directly from cable box to surround system? Try cable box in to tv,tv out to surround system...this sometimes helps

lipsync tests

The cable box is connected to the TV with a HDMI cable, on the TV i connected the surround system in two diferent ways to do some testing.
First i used the white/red rca audio output from the TV, second i used the headphone output from the TV.
With the rca output i got the lipsync issue, but on the headphone output there is no lipsync at all.
I still have to test the optical output.

If you have a specific model of HT that you're thinking of, I could inquire on the digital delay feature.

Let me know.

also got sync issues

I got my 650 yesterday but when i use my external speakers along with the tv speakers i noticed a very irritating sync problem. I googled and found this solution @ http://www.hometheaterforum.com/forum/thread/280579/audio-delay-on-samsung-650-lcd-tv
"Hi,
This same problem had been bugging me when I bought my LE37B650, everyone suggested adjusting the delay time on my AV amp but unfortunately mine does not have this function.

Anyway I finally fixed the problem using the following steps

Before you start make a note of your menu settings as you will have to reset them after this procedure

Turn off the TV then press Info -> Menu -> Mute in sequence then turn the TV back on again. This will get you into the secret Service Menu. Go straight to the AUDIO page of the menu. Don't be tempted to fiddle with things in service menu cos you can end up in a right old pickle!

In the AUDIO page you willl notice that there is a time delay set for the internal speakers of 100ms but for some reason this is not set for the external output so all you need do is dial in a 100ms delay there and that should sort the problem. Well it fixed it for me.

Note that as soon as you enter the service menu, all your other standard menu settings are lost and the screen will be set to dynamic for some reason so you have to go through and change everything back after you have done this."

The solution seems solid enough and loads of people seem to have been helped by this fix, still i'm very reluctant to use this method. Call me chicken but i learned a new meaning of the word brick as i was googling and i'm not very keen on making a wrong click and killing my tv. Is this something that could be fixed in a future firmware update? Or is it either taking a risk doing it the Tom Buxton way or shelling out even more money buying additional equipment?
