I am scanning and storing documents onto DVDs in preparation for throwing out the original documents. I've just started, and by trial and error (comparing results) decided to store images as *.TIF files. Before I actually start throwing out the original documents (old work records) is this the best format for saving the scanned images?

But I have TIF files from over a decade ago and they still are usable with many programs today. A little bulky but that works.
