Digital Pictures to portable hard drive without a PC?

Dec 5, 2009 4:19AM PST

My wife is going on a trip and will be unable to take her PC. We are trying to determine if there is a way to transfer her pictures from her SD card to a portable hard drive, without having her PC.

Camera is a Canon S5 IS. Open on the hard drive: Toshiba, Western Digital, etc.

Thank you for any advice.

Several Options

1. Just buy more SD memory cards.

2. There are portable devices that will download the memory card to its internal hard drive.
But they are expensive. (usually over $100).
You might consider Option #1 first.

3. Go to a WalMart or Walgreen Pharmacy and have them copy the SD card to a CD ($3.00).
Then erase the card and take more photos.

Thank you. All good options. Leaning to number one and two to insure backup. Who makes the downloadable drives? Might already have it.
