That's far too unlikely. Some very high end cameras that just came out have... compact flash.
In closing, the only memory that is not mainstream but will be available for years is the slow MMC and smart media cards. But it's a NON-ISSUE since you don't need to use more than a few and unlike film, you don't buy them to replenish your camera.
My now 4 year old Digital Elph has compact flash cards and ... I'm using the same cards I bought back then.
As such, this sounds more like a scare tactic to steer a customer to some make/model camera the store wants to sell.

I am a looking into buying a digital camera but what type of memory (and camera) is best? An employee at Kit's Cameras told me that CompactFlash cards would be obsolete in a year or two. Help!
