There are differences of opinion on this subject.
After sifting through many forums, there is enough people claiming damage that it would be prudent to take steps to minimize exposure to xray machines.
I encountered no instance of a camera being damaged, only memory cards in cameras and cell phones.
Simple solution #1: remove the memory cards and put them in your pocket before you get to security. They will still go through the personnel scanner but not the xray. I saw no reports that blammed the scanner.
Simple solution #2: remove the mormory cards and put them in your wallet before you get to security. When you get to the scanner, remove your wallet and keys and put them in the tray before you go through the scanner.
Caution: Some airports may take the tray with its items an run them through the xray. Know the practice of the airport before using this solution.
Note: putting the memory cards in a womans purse will almost always result in them going through xray.

Have a Canon Powershot G5 with Lithium rechargeable batteries and of course memory chips. Was wondering what effect Airport Security would have on my camera and the contents should they insist on scanning.
Thanks in advance.
