Digital Camera Zoom

Oct 20, 2004 7:05AM PDT

My camera has 3x optical zoom, and 5x (? I forget the exact number) digital zoom; but only one button to activate zooming.

How can I tell which one is in use??

(I have a Sony CyberShot DSC-S30 - 1.3 megapixels. It may be old - but takes beautiful pictures!)

Thanks for the reference, Art. At first, I felt it didn't really answer my question (I was hoping someone would tell me which button did optical zoom, and which one did digital zoom).
But, the article gave me the clue I needed: I found the menu item allowing me to turn off the digital zoom feature; ergo, the button I was using must be the optical zoom feature. I always used the max pixel setting for my pictures, and am quite happy with my little Sony CyberShot.
BTW - I notice no difference, in the way that I use the camera, now that the digital zoom is off. Great - Thanks again!
